Optical Express are looking to recruit an experienced Manager to lead our Laser Vision Correction (LVC) Clinic within our new central Edinburgh location.


The LVC Surgery Manager will lead and support the surgery team to ensure that the highest level of patient care is provided. To support this objective, the Surgery Manager will implement best practice, work in accordance with the Care Quality Commission’s ‘Essential Standards’, healthcare professional’s codes of professional conduct and Optical Express’ policies, procedures and protocols. The Surgery Manager will lead the team in delivering consistently high patient care and base the delivery of care on evidence resulting from robust audit and quality monitoring activities. The Surgery Manager will participate in the delivery of treatment, undertaking an appropriate role in accordance with the individual’s specific training and qualification. Where appropriate, the Surgery Manager is expected to register with the Care Quality Commission as the Registered Manager.

  • To take a proactive approach to problem solving and complaint handling
  • To ensure the smooth running of the Surgery Clinic, managing the team and the patient flow on the day of surgery
  • To accurately maintain all manual and computerised patient records in accordance with Data Protection requirements
  • Maintaining an up to date knowledge on all products and associated key features and benefits
  • Administrative duties such as stock ordering & stock checking, and checking and calibrating the equipment
  • To ensure adherence to all company policy / procedure and relevant legislation in all areas of work
  • To lead a large multi-disciplined team to deliver high levels of patient satisfaction

Minimum Requirements

Essential Skills

  • Experience as a Manager
  • Excellent communication skills with colleagues, patients and Management.
  • Adaptable with a flexible approach to work 
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritise tasks
  • An articulate and presentable candidate is essential
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Demonstrate confidentiality, integrity and discretion
  • The ability to multi-task


  • A proven track record of developing a team 
  • Degree-educated or degree-calibre
  • Experience in refractive surgery
  • Determination to succeed and overall career ambition
  • Retail/cash handling experience
