Overview

Due to continued growth, We have excellent opportunities within Optical Express and are now looking to appoint Registered Nurses to work within our state of the art clinics.

 

Role & Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse leads the surgery team in terms of providing expertise in all aspects of patient management.The Registered Nurse will undertake a practical ‘hands on’ role during the surgical day including admissions nurse; scrub assistant; discharge patients with after-care advice and medications; assist within the anaesthetic room; prepare the patient for their laser/Intra Ocular Lens (IOL) treatment and undertake pre-screening diagnostic duties.In addition, you will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the surgery manager and assisting with the infection control audits
  • Ensuring that all patients proceeding to surgery have had the opportunity to understand the potential risks and benefits of treatment.
  • To Work within the team to ensure that ‘file preparation’ prior to the treatment day is carried out in order to minimise potential complications, cancellations/ postponement by being able to recognise patient suitability and liaise with the multi-disciplinary team in order to ensure outstanding issues are addressed prior to surgery.
  • Patients are discharged from surgery with the appropriate prescribed medication and advice, including emergency contact numbers and follow up care has been arranged.
  • Patient care is appropriate and individual requests are accommodated as far as is reasonable and safe.

  • Registered Nurse

Essential Skills:

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to absorb and convey highly technical information
  • Adaptable with a flexible approach to work
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritise tasks
  • Strong organisational skills & attention to detail
  • An articulate and presentable candidate is essential
  • Fluent English language skills are essential, (IELTS grade 6 or above)
  • Demonstrate confidentiality, integrity and discretion
  • A passion or interest for optical healthcare / refractive surgery

Desirable:

  • Ophthalmic and teaching qualifications are desirable but not essential

We understand that in all likelihood RN’s with or without ophthalmic knowledge will not be able to fulfil the specialist requirements for this role. Consequently, Optical Express will provide training and supervised practice in order to develop RGN’s working with us.
